SHAPING UP
Introduction
Let’s start our journey. Enjoy learning about 2D polygon shapes with a lot of interesting facts. Find information about triangles, squares, pentagons, hexagons, heptagons, octagons, nonagons, decagons and more. See what they look like, how many sides they have and learn by doing.
Objectives
- To identify the names and properties of a variety of 2D shapes.
- To practice 2D shapes through different activities and links
Understanding 2D shapes
You are going to learn about 2D shapes. How many sides does each shape have and what are their names.
Input: Go to the link https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TbR_rakilds
Look at each shape.
- How many sides does each shape have?
- What are the names of these shapes?
- Look around your house/classroom, and look for objects that are similar to the shapes on the link.
- Click on the following link https://mathsupactivities.wikispaces.com/Polygons+in+my+House and look for Polygons in my house. Write at least 2 objects that you have found, including how maw sides it has and what its polygon name would be. (Do not forget to write your name).
Now that you have learnt about 2D shapes and their names, try and complete : ACTIVITY ONE- ACTIVITY TWO- ACTIVITY THREE.
